Falling in Love With Your Home

February. With it comes thoughts of dark chocolate, flowers and yes, Hallmark.  All to say: “I love you.

I’ve been thinking about this idea recently, not so much in the ways I’ve just mentioned, but in a way that’s more specific to what I do...architecture.

So my big question for February has been, What makes us fall in love with our homes?

In my mind, I think there are many reasons for this love, but I’ll just touch on a few of them here, so you can get on with your love in February.

Let’s start with...

1.  Beauty.  Why start there?  Because beauty sparks within us such a strong sense of emotion. I think it’s that sense of wonder...when you see something so beautiful it just fills your heart with joy.  Beauty can be so captivating.  Upon  approach…. I want my clients to feel captivated by the beauty of their home.

Beauty strikes a chord deep within me; it’s my primal connection to a space.

2. Personality.  The architecture of a home is like a vessel for you to reveal your personality within it. Imbuing your home with memories, your sense of style, and all the things you hold dear and cherish, feels nurturing.

To me, a home that has a nurturing personality is another way for me to fall in  love with my home.

3.  Place of Gathering. A beautiful home encourages true/real/warm/joyful  connections.  Loving your home inspires you to gather your friends, your family,  your tribe (even if it’s a tribe of one!) to celebrate life’s moments---the sacred, the intimate, and also the public.

4. Inspiring gratitude.  I’m always grateful for the whole space, the way beauty,   personality and gathering all come together under one roof, allowing us to thrive.

Coming home to a house you love is like coming home to flowers that never fade and chocolate that lasts throughout the year.   Happy February
